Hi Everyone,
For those of who don't know me, my industry experience comes from my 12 years as a Flight Attendant, Inflight Service Director and later as a Flight Service Manager for Air NZ International. Prior to flying I spent 10 years in the Police where I spent most of my time in the Criminal Investigation Branch as a Detective. More recently I spent some time in Sydney as a senior manager in Fraud Risk Management.
My wife Melissa is an Inflight Service Coordinator at Air NZ International, and my son's partner Maria flies for Jetconnect Longhaul so I also have 'family ties' to this amazing industry of ours. I have been fortunate to be appointed the General Secretary position and I see this as very challenging, yet very rewarding. I intend to represent you in ways you wish me to; to develop FARSA's service levels from the office and online; and ensure our industrial and delegate teams have the tools and resources to put us in a position of success with our representation on your behalf with your personal and collective matters.
I look forward to meeting you all at some stage, and I would also love to hear your feedback about what you personally expect from your association.

Dear Members, Due to the recent change in the structure within the office team I have been appointed as FARSA's resident solicitor. Although I have come from a background in civil litigation I am delighted in and have great enthusiasm for my new position in employment law.
My role is to assist and support members with their employment questions and problems. As the workload dictates I will be generally assisted and will also brief out files to FARSA's barristers, Stewart King and Mark Sweetman.
In the instance of an alleged personal grievance the legal team will present the member's case to the executives of the relevant sector for approval to proceed to the next stage.
My hope is that members will feel comfortable contacting the legal team not only when there is a problem but also when they have ideas and comments about their relationship with their respective employers.

I am the newest member of the FARSA family, having taken up the post of Industrial Officer. I am a recent law graduate, having spent 4 years down in Dunedin studying, and eventually graduated in 2008. Originally I was brought up in Invercargill, and have been living in Auckland for the past 2 years. I recently was admitted to the Bar, so I hope to be able to contribute some of my legal knowledge to the role.
Employment law is my main passion, as I think it is hugely important for employees’ to assert their rights and for their voices to be heard. I hope to be able to assist you with this in my role as Industrial Officer and look forward to the challenges ahead.
Monica will be primarily assisting Pete in the 'day to day' operation as well as with Collective Negotiations. She'll also be applying her legal expertise to assist the legal team where required.
